Hi there I have a 400l tank I have had for years I have a sump with live media/ skimmer/ pellet reactor/ air stone and uv and carbon and two heaters all on a circuit breaker lead
In my tank I have loads of live rock 3 power heads pushing about 6000l/h
2 cleaning shrimp
2 bubble tips
2 clowns
6 hermit crabs
1 coral beauty
1 vampire tang
1 sailfin tang
1 peacock wraps
My water is always perfect I test every couple of days and take to shop to test aswell I water change every couple weeks
And for the last 6 to 8 months every time I add a new fish it dies within about 3 weeks and I can’t get to bottom of it and it’s getting to me now I have lost so much trying to add new fish but my ones in there are going strong they are heathly eat well and are growing well and they don’t attack any new fish .. I have retired adding loads of different types but no they all just keep dying on me .. please could someone help me

Ever witness the peacock being aggressive?

What type of fish have you been trying to add?

The peacock is a peaceful fish never had any aggression at all .. I have a yellow eye tang aswell I forgot to put down he’s the boss but he’s been ok with all my fish and new inmates .. I have tried purple tang
Yellow tang
Lipstick tang
Flame angle
Rock beauty
Clown tang
Long nose butterflies
Parrot fish

That seems like a heavy stock for a 100 gallon tank. Id suspect some agression going on. Only thing that makes sense. Doesnt seem to be chemical since all your OG fish are alive and thriving and your also keeping nems and snails and such. How long aftwr you add these fish do they seem to die?

Very strange i still suspect agression/stress. But im no exspert hopefully somebody else chimes in here.

If I may, is there another name for a Peacock wraps? all I can find is the fresh water peacock bass.)
Also Is there anything common with the fish they expired? Sameshop maybe?are you able to acclimated for big difference in salinity?(water with new fish compared to salinity of your tank) ? stuff like that.
Thanks

I have had the shop up to look and they looked after my tank while away and they think everything is fine and they are speaking with TMc to see if anything they could put a finger on as they have done everything they know and that’s while I thought about trying on hear

I get the salt water from same shop as my fish cone from and I test it before every time and I always get the shop to check aswell .. it normally 0.024 and that’s the same as the shop . I have tried everything . I drip aacclimatise aswell . I have tried a fish from other shop and same thing happened
Thanks

I see the difference from .o24 to .o26 isn't big at all. MY lfs is usually between .o20 to .o22.
any spots or anything? You add them, they integrate well & eat just fine then a few weeks later just up & die. That is perplexing.
Thanks for the fish name !

No spot not marks nothing . Very healthy fish look amazing settle in really well had marines 2 years now but last 8 months I just can’t add anything else it just won’t let me .. I used to try for 0.022 but the shop always make it at 0.024 and that’s what there’s are running on and have same water so they should settle even better .. if anyone is about the tn6 area I am happy for help at home to look .. I can take photos or video to show setup . The shop are trying to sorce sending water off somewhere but I want to know if anyone ever had same problems
Thanks

@4FordFamily what are your thoughts?
Well I had a strain of velvet that didn’t show most common velvet symptoms for about a week, sometimes two before the fish would die. They’d deteriorate within 3-4 days of the start and die. First blotchy color loss or fading, eating less, breathing heavier as days went on, then hiding more, and the next day they were dead. Eventually one fish did show classic symptoms and I identified it and treated.

Truthfully with all of the additions, if you didn’t quarantine your tank would be a smorgasbord of parasites at this point.

Any hiding from light? Scratching? Breathing heavily? Swimming in to powerheads? Frayed fins? White, stringy poop? Spots or pealing?flashing? Frequently suddenly darting around the tank for no reason?

I had a fish that looked like it had fun rot but got better and nothing came of it .. one did go in my power head and die but nothing else like that has happened for ages that was about a year ago .. I have added since that happened and they where ok .. but never get any symptoms like that now what was that I could try put across to the shop mate and see if that could be a rot to try thanks
