My New Frag/Grow System.

Could you describe how the water flows? and what you have in the bottom and the tank on the right? What are the specs?! Very cool idea

The bottom right tank has my equipment and some extra live rock in it. Skimmer, heater, reactor, Return pump, etc. One return splits and fills both frag tanks. The overflow from the top tank flows back to the bottom right tank while the lower frag tank flows back throgh the refugium under it. The fuge and the equip. shed are connected together. All in all it was very simple.
Been moving my disply all day today. Its around 4:00 AM and I needed a break.

Good luck getting the display setup. Thats a stressful job. When I moved mine, I started about noon and didn't finish (for the day) until 5:00 AM . . . that sucked.

You will get a much better light spread on your tank if you turn the halide perpendicular to the tank. Much more par on the outer sides of the tank.

Good Luck

Well I got the 75 moved. Needless to say all of my stuff is not going back in there. I don't know how it was all in there before. The frag system is stii running fine. a pic of the 75 after the move.

I like those frags on the back wall! Those montis might shade your corals a bit when they grow out, but I'm sure you've thought of that ;-)

Those Monti were frags, 2X2, when I got them from fellow member PHurst. Waiting for the Leng Si to scroll. :) Had them less than a year. Will continue to work on getting stuff in there tonight.

dang Dave, those montis have exploded! I just set up a small frag tank and now I feel inadiquite after seeing this setup :)

Pearson, many magazines and online forums will tell you that its not the size of your frag tank thats matter, its how you stock it . . . but we all know thats not true.

looks like you set it up really well. looks great! what type of paint did you use on the inside of those tubs?

If you miss your Caps and need a frag let me know. Got some zoas you might like in there too. :)
You need to make the trip down here at some point. Josh's band is playing down the street in Scottsville on the 26th. Small Swap meet after the show?
Exactly an hour (the way I drive) down 6 (Patterson) from Atlantis.

sweet. I have a 50g stock tank, and they are a great size for prop systems... I haven't set mine up yet, and I am going to have to go paint it now... :D love the way you staggered them on stands too... I am planning on adding a second one down the road, so I will have to kepp that in mind. I also plan on putting a small countertop next to it so that I can frag stuff on the bandsaw right by the tanks.

does that 250 seem to cover the length pretty well? I have a Lumenarc steath mini 400w that I was going to put over mine, and I have 2, so if that works then I have both tanks covered for light.

I plan on adding another 250 on the upper tank. I have the ballast already just need a reflector and socket. The T-5 6X54 seems to make the corals happy but I don't like the color. I am planning on changeing the bulbs on that one.
I really like the dual sumps hooked together. One has sand, live rock, grape calupera, and light. The other houses all the equipment i.e. heaters and filters, but was big enough to hold a nice extra supply of live rock too. Without the algae growing in there the equipment is easier to maintain.

so you have the frag tanks draining into the fuge one, then the fuge one draining into the sump on the right, then all 3 plumbed for returns from the sump on the right? is that correct? just wondering cause this is exactly what I was planning on doing, just without the fuge.

Each frag tank returns to one of the bottom tanks. The bottom tanks are pulmbed together. That way I could make the return rate higher.
