My new IM fusion 40

So I was going to wait til after my cycle but since posting my other thread with a question figured if share now.

This is an upgrade from my Evo 13.5 I started last year. That was my first ever tank and wished I had gone bigger right away. Well my CFO aka wife agreed to let me upgrade and here I am. Am hoping to take the little experience I got over the past year and have a better run this time and plan on investing a little more,taking my time and buying the right thing the first time.

Scaped and filled last fri 3/30. Added Dr. Tims one and only and dosed to 2ppm ammonia on monday 4/2. Still waiting on some more equipment to come in.

About 30lbs brs reef safer rock
20lbs carib sea special grade sand
Going to be adding my current loop wavemaker and either ordering one more or looking at the ice cap gyre 1k


In the mail is a tunze 3155 osmolator & reefbreeders photon v2 16inch. Also plan on a tunze skimmer.

Thanks. Im happy with how it came out. And saved me 300 bucks bc I had all the wood. I stole it from a design I found online but it fits perfect with my living room furniture. And I built the hell out of it in fear of it collapsing. I made some shelves inside. Ill post a pic once I have it completely done and organized

Awesome! I was thinking of adding a rock from another tank like you did. It would help seed but its not the same kind of rock. I wanted to keep it uniform. But it has a war coral growing on it that I want to keep but dont know if I can remove it. And didnt want to put it in so early.

Cant do it until I have my light anyway. Hopefully by next week.

Yeah. You can see just above that I made these shelves with black pipe and red oak. I wanted it to match since I made the stand with red oak. I was going back and forth on how I wanted to mount them. Figured if I dont like it its easy enough to remove.

i added the old rock from my 125 to help seed with coraline and some bacteria. i also added some instant ocean bio spira each time i added the fish. been adding my cerith smails as i can catch them. good luck with the build. i will be following along.

So wanted to update, got a few toys in: tunze 3155 osmolator which is awesome. My first time using one and just makes life so much easier. I wasnt able to keep up with manual top off before this. I would leave for work with it topped off and come home to millions of bubbles.

Also got and set up my Reefbreeders photon v2. Im liking it so far. In my limited experince it feels quality and based on all the reviews should suit my needs just fine. Kind of came up with my own schedule altered off of some info I found online.

Also got a second and bigger Current eflux powerhead. I like these so far and was much cheaper than other options. Soo i have two on alternating schedules, hopefully giving me a nice flow but I may have to play around.

Cycle is done! I did about a 15 gal water change last night. And will do another this weekend just to get nitrates down a little more.

Tonight was a little stressful, I transferred over my royal gramma, the only fish I had in my evo and also moved over most of corals.

I had a gha problem in my old tank so I did my best to remove what I could off the corals and plugs etc. Hopefully it doesnt create a problem.

My Royal Gramma went in and right away under some rock and havent seen her since, hope all is well and shes out and ok soon!

Going to let my corals hang out for a few days while I decide where I want them.

Thanks! Theyre Current-USA powerheads. One is 660gph from my evo and just got a second rated @ 1050. I only have them @ 20% right now until things settle down.

Looking good! Sounds like you had a bumpy road at times. Im praying for an easier time than my evo. The gha was a never ending battle for me. Eveb bringing over my corals scared me. Im doing my best to not introduce anything I dont want.

Nutrient export is the hardest thing in an AIO. I now have the GFO/Carbon reactor, oversized skimmer, and the Chaeto reactor to control my nutrients.

Yeah im definitely going to eventually do a skimmer and probably a reactor. Im determined to not lose to gha again.

Think I should start skimming now? Or is it not necessary til a little greater load?

You're going to get very different reviews on this. Once my tanks cycle I turn on my skimmer. I have a heavy hand when it comes to feeding so I always need it!

I used to too, I curbed my feeding once my problems started.

Question for those with the tank, do you NEED supplemental flow? I actually shut off my two powerheads and my duncan and torch look like theyre getting beat up with just the return pump flow.

I might need to play around and adjust everything

So the reason most tanks need supplemental flow is so the corals don't get beaten up by a direct stream of water. You can get a spin stream and that will create the random flow patterns that most tanks need. However, if you get supplemental flow in your tank you can always increase the flow to allow yourself to dabble with sps eventually.
