I got this for a steal at my LFS yesterday. It's 3 1/2" diameter!

Very nice. The JMT is one of my all time favorite montis. You will love it as you get it to color up and start growing. Nice size piece too.

Mine colored up really nice when I moved it up higher to get more light. It now has a bright purple rim an bright red polyps.

Thanks everybody...I was tickled. Karl, I hope mine colors up too. It's kinda blah right now and I have it on the sand bed for acclimation, but I will gradually move it up some.

Update - this piece has greened out in my tank. Purple has disappeared. Is it getting too much light or not enough?

I have had mine high up and on the sand. It seems to maintain the same intense purple rim regardless (250 watt metal halides and t5s). It sounds like yours may be unhappy for some reason beside light

I have no idea what it could be. Everything else in my tank is doing fantastic. I put it up top to see what it would do there. Maybe that will help.

The purple is the growing edge on this coral. If it has not completely settled in (I've had corals that literally took months to settle in.) it might not be growing and therefore would not have the purple edge. My Jedi mind trick is green base, red polyps with a purple/blue growth edge. Sounds like it is moving in the right direction if the body is coloring up well.

Here is an older picture of mine for reference.

Thanks for the reference. Mine is a greener than yours but basically the same. It hasn't grown yet, but doesn't look unhealthy either. I won't panic yet...lol
