i have a new leather actually its my first coral i bought it on saturday it hasnt opened or took root yet not sure if i did something wrong or if this is normal thanks for any feed back

some leathers can take several weeks to open up. what type is it? i have a toadstool that took over two months.

How long before they attach them self's to the rock my hermit crabs nocked it out of the hole I had it in tonight

I should have probably not assumed you had a toadstool but they look like a big mushroom. It can take some time for a leather to attach....I would glue it

Look like its starting to open. They also like a gentle flow across them. A little dab of superglue to hold it in place.

they attach rather quickly 3-7 days from my experience , I like to use 100% white cotton thread very easy and safe for your aquarium and with in a few days you usually can take off the thread, also some time in low flow places in your aquarium they can attach quickly as well . I would find out the water parameters from were the coral came from and see if you nee to make any adjustments good luck with the new addition

That looks amazing mate, thing thats one for me too, i bought a green finger leather as my first coral a few week ago, that was already attatched to a piece of rock, it took that quite a while to settle in but opens up and shows its polyps now.
