Well i got some new coral and i got a duncan that i asked him to cut for me..yeah thats right its not on a plug, i had him cut it on the spot and its open and doing well this morning hardy little booger lol, so with out it being on a plug i noticed it has a fleshy like skeleton unlike most LPS coral does it have any chance of attaching to the rock i placed it on and if not would it be ok for that fleshy stem to be down in a hole that i will drill in the live rock ..... i dont like gluing corals down if i dont have to because if i get a bigger or better looking rock that the coral will look better on but if they must be then it must be and i also have some acans and cant find alot of info so what ever any one knows and can share

IMO I would not force the duncan to be put into a hole for one the bacteria will probably cause tissue necrosis if not healed properly EX that is why you get the corals on a plug is that they have been propagated and dipped and watched over time for infections. I would find a little piece of live rock and use superglue attache it to the rock and watch the coral for a week then glue the little piece of live where you want it to go. If you force the duncan in to the hole it also might not grow properly. The duncan will grow by sprouting new heads under the main head and if you put it to far in to the hole you might stop this process.. hope this helps. once again this is just my opinion

thanks i was kind of wondering about it its unlike any i have ever had any other input as far as placement for them under powercompact 50/50 56watt

I have mine about half way up under a phoenix 150 watt 14k halide and he seems to love it and is showing good growth. When i first got it i had it under my 4 x 39 watt t5 system kind of high up in the tank and he loved it there to. as per flow they like moderate flow. you will get awesome results if you feed it 2 to 3 times per week brine shrimp and stuff like that. good luck
