That thing is sweet! I'm making some room in my tank so I can pick me up a clam.

Thanks Lee, Maxima's get up to about 12" but they are fairly slow growers. From what you said you want I would recommend ether a Maxima or a Crocea. Max size on a Crocea would be about 6" and they are extremely slow growers.

Nice!!!!! I finally found one. WIll try to get a picture

Sweet clam. I didn't realize that Maximas got to 12". I thought that they were about the same as Croceas. Glad I didn't find out too late!

Well I personally have only seen pic's of one that made it to that size and it would take a very long time for one to grow that big in our aquariums.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

HA! I thought I was!!! I will get me one some day.........LOL. Can you PM me a source for a good squamie, if you know one that is?

Dave, I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya, just let me know what you are looking for. For Squamosa's I don't know, lately all I have been seeing is dull brown one's.

sweet little maxima...you might have to keep that cap trimmed back for the clam!

Thanks, I have actually moved it higher on the rocks since I took the pic and the clam jumped and is on the sand now.

Nice man I love clams just a little info on growth rate I started with 2.5" one and in 5yrs I'd say it reached full size then someone came along and offered me the right price so it went down the road!
Also skinz if you're putting it in high light and it's bailing on you that's a good sign it's to high move it up slowly like a coral and you'll be able to place it anywhere, one trick to that is get it to attach to a frag disk so you'll be able to move it then you can epoxy/superglue down the disk and clam in the spot you like! Enjoy that awesome clam man seriously great find I love black and white clams!

Thanks! Yeah I've done that before with light acclimation for them. The only reason I put it up so high is I wanted to place it in a good spot that I could see it and enjoy it the best. Everywhere else I am afraid it will get blasted with too much flow so I'm leaving it on the sand for a day or two and then gonna start slowly moving it up again.
