Looks nice, quite a mini colony of utter chaos. Are utter chaos palys? I always thought they were zoas.

My goodness they're gorgeous! Must've cost a pretty penny though for that mini colony haha. I had to wait a few months for my 2 polyps to become a mini colony that size.

Nice colony you got there. I am still on the hunt to get at least one polyp of the Utter Chaos..

not sure if they are palys or zoas but by their size i'm gonna say palys

Polyp size has nothing to do with them being Zoanthids or Palys.

Palys naturally grow on the sand, and incorporate sand in the building of their mats. Zoanthids grow on rocks, naturally and don't incorporate sand into their makeup.

like i said i don't know if they are paly or zoa. but thanks for the info on the difference between the 2 species. i've always seen everything grow on rocks at every fish store i've been to

Nice Utter Chaos!! Can't wait to get a few of them from a friend's tank.

:squigglemouth:
I have seen both of them in the wild. Naturally, both of them grow everywhere; on sand, rock, algae, even on corals ......
