So my semi local Petco got some new clams in. They were listed as ORA Aquacultured Derasa for $39.99. They were at the store less than 2 days (I was just there for last weeks shipment and they didn’t have them). I couldn’t take just one home so I bought both they had. Smallest is about 1.5” the other about 2-2.5”. Sorry for the crappy pic

My Petco had 3 this evening. I almost pulled the trigger but........l I think I'll go back in the morning.

I need to go to my local petco, I got some fish and a couple of inverts from there when i started my tank in 2021, and everyone is doing great......I think petco is so under rated when it comes to saltwater creatures in general.

Picked one up yesterday at my local Petco. My 7 year old granddaughter and I(62 yrs old)) rode our bikes 3.3 mile there and 3.3 back home with the clam hang in a bag in my hand on the handlebar coming home. Opened right up at home. Was 39.99. I get the best healthiest live fish/inverts at Petco. Never have brought home anything from there with a disease. Can't say the same for any(repeat ANY) of my LFS.

That’s great u have a quality source. Any pics of the clam?

So to update on mine, both have died. I slacked on maintenance for a bit, including not paying attention to the tank in general, and found the shell of one locked up under a rock. The second disappeared while I was on vacation. I have yet to find the shell of that one. I’m going to say clams are not for me, and will not be buying anymore without well thought out plan

Sad to hear that. I've been into saltwater aquariums since 1968 and this is my first clam, although I have hitchhiker mussels in most of my tanks for years now. Before anybody says it- mine is in a mature tank where GHA and the uglies are long gone. The rock I put it on is new.
