My new project

Did a little custom fabricating this morning!
Without the top on the tank, the lid for the filter box was looking a little ridiculous so I made a flat cover from tinted Lexan.

The pins in the four corners keep it from sliding around. They are screwed into the Lexan and the parts that stick out through the bottom fit against the corners. It’s completely lift off.

It’s Friday! Y’all know what that means! Saturday is LFS day.
Gonna pick up a few more members for my CUC and maybe a couple of frags.

Diatoms already! ;Nailbiting
Noticing a little brown tinge to my beautiful live rock, YIKES! I know it’s normal but, we’ll, YUCK!
Changed 1.5 gallons, cranked up the skimmer and I think I’m going “blackout” for a few days. No livestock in the tank yet so I’m not concerned about going dark. Sea water is store bought from a very reputable store.
Uv sterilizer is good for diatoms...

I’ve been looking for one that is super compact that would fit into chamber #2 of the Evo. This is not really a UV sterilizer as it doesn’t have any kind of slow dwell time but it should help a little. I’m not really having a diatom problem on a regular basis but I think if I run this light for about 1-2 hours a day, it may help.
I guess I’ll be the “Evo UV test subject”!

So many horror stories about heater failure these days. I was talking to the guy at the LFS and he asked if I had a controller. When I said “not yet”, he just shook his head.
Ordered an Inkbird while my corals were acclimating.

Morning routine done:
One gallon water change——- check
One ml 8.4—-check
One ml Cal——check
One small squirt LRS Reef Frenzy NANO——check
All inhabitants happy and healthy——check
UV light for chamber #2 and Inkbird should be here today!

Happy Healthy critters——check
One Gallon water change——check
Heater and Pumps operating properly——check

Morning ritual completed and the coffee has dripped. Time to watch the morning news!

Big ole sheet of 50 micron polishing pad showed up today. 2’x3’, should last me a grey long time considering the size of the pieces I have to cut it into.
My water is crystal clear but I want it even clearer. LOL!
