That is a TON of pellets! I'm assuming you are trying to cycle the tank? That is way more than is needed. Haha!! Better yet, if you're trying to cycle it, just buy a bottle of BIO-Spira and be done with it. Instant cycle. Done this countless times with Bio spira. Just seed a sponge for a few hours in a small amount of SW. For a 10 gallon QT, I usually just dump 2 ounces over the sponge in the back of the filter and let it set for a while. With filter off. Then after a few hours, turn the filter on. This concentrates the bacteria in a small area of the filter. Make sure the filter media is slightly submerged in saltwater before dumping the bacteria over the top. You'll likely have to prime the filter before starting. I bet that’s the reason for the Yellowish water. I also bet your ammonia is off the charts. Especially if those pellets have been in there for a day or so. If you don't have a sponge filter in the back of your power filter, just dump those rings in there and seed with bottle bacteria. Fritz Turbo Start works well also. I also add, once you've seeded the sponge and let it run for a while you can always test to see how well the bacteria is processing ammonia. Just dose 2 ppm of ammonium chloride and test 24 later. The tank should be able to process 2ppm in a 24 hour time frame.
