This is offically my first build thread as a member and after reading a bunch of other builds i figured i would share my next...
So after having a bunch of upgrades and downgrades I've fallen upon a beautiful Red Sea Reefer Max 170. I currently have a 120 oceanic (4'x2'x2'). I love this tank but I'm falling out of love with it. Seems like working 7 days a week as a truck driver just doesn't work for a reef tank. The 120 has been up and running for a little over a year. But being on the road so much I've decided that I'm going to most likely break it down and just stick to the reefer 170.
Well as a bill thread goes I'll start off with the quality of this tank straight out of the box. Unbelievably beautiful. Now, I have owned some other amazing tanks; Innovative marine, jbj, cadlights, but this one, this just blows my mind coming out of the box with quality....
I'm going to stick with the boxed equipment for now till I get some money going back in my wallet with selling off the things I won't be using from the 120.
I'm going to be customize this thing to the max with that I can upgrade and what not.
I'm going to be using the following equipment:
TANK/STAND-
Red Sea Reefer Max 170/stock stand
SUMP-
UPGRADED, thinking about going with a Trigger Systems Crystal cube 18x18. Reason being is I want a fuge and not just a berlin style sump like the stock sump.
LIGHTING-
I have to match the equality of this tank with an amazing LED light and go with a XR30W. And of course I'll go with the RMS mounting system.
WAVEMAKER-
I'm going to go with a MP10QDw. One for the equality and two because it's gonna give me connectivity with the wireless and since I'm going with a tip top notch build I will just go all out once and never have to buy buy buy....
DOSING-
I'm actually going to go with a cheap doser for now since that's what I have on my 120. Going to go with the cheap DP4(Jabeo). I know, I know, cheap. But since I'm not adamant about dosing I might not even dose, and just do weekly water changes. And if I do dose it will be with the B-Ionic 2 part since it's a nano and won't need to be replenished as much as a larger system.
ATO-
Right now I have the smart ATO micro on the 120 and seems to do fine with that, I'm gonna just transfer that over to the nano and call it a day.
Skimmer-
Not 100% positive on this piece yet but I have been looking at the Nyos 120 and can't keep my eyes off it. It's German engineering at its finest.
RETURN PUMP-
Not decided on this yet.
Going to be a mixed reef system, since I have a lot of LPS in my 120 that are doing fantastic and my jawbreaker mushrooms are reproducing like jackrabbits, they will switch over too.
Please follow along and help me go full SPS!!!!!
