It's so good to see this project getting going. This is big. I'm quite concerned about the spread of the light however. My hunch is that we're going to see a concentrated area of exceptinally high PAR directly under the emitter and then a significant drop-off as we move away. Somehow I don't think the reflector is going to be able to sufficiently spread what is clearly a very intense light source. PAR numbers! PAR numbers!!!
I'm waiting to run some PAR values for the plasma until the tank is filled up. I would like it to have more real world value! Once the silicone is cured we will have it filled!
Oh good -god... congrats Todd that's so sick man! I cannot wait to roll over and check out this beast!

I have quite a few pics to put up in a build thread, I just gotta find the cord to my wifes camera!
Its hard to demonstrate or describe but the light put out by the emitter comes from all directions. Its equally intense on the sides as it is dead center. Naturally the par will fade off around the edges but its effective spread should be quite good.
I am pretty sure that two of these will be lighting this tank. I just picked up my first Reef Keeper Elite complete with the low voltage dimming module so I will be able to customize the color to my liking(blue!!!!).
Water this weekend, I can't wait the full two weeks.

I really like this light!!!
Shimmers just like a halide.
After running it for a couple of hours yesterday the heat sinks on the driver and the housing for the emitter do get quite hot(100 degrees ish).

Very interesting If these work as well as halides, and are affordable, They could change game!!!

PAR readings thus far are:
Just below the surface ~ 300-350
8" below the surface ~ 200-250
at the bottom of the 26" tank 75-100
The water could have been a little cleaner(gravel) but these numbers should work quite well.

Thanks again to Seachem and Marco Rocks!!! I really love the Kona Coast substrate.
Marco Rocks hooked me up with some of the nicest rock I have ever seen!!! Great shapes and easy to get a nice scape going.
The tank isn't online yet its all on its own right now with Vortechs for circulation. I will be on vaca for a week so I'll toss in a molly while I am gone.

Chris, I am putting up a 8 tube 54 watt next to this so expect some readings soon. We shall see if it gets done today, my wife turned 40 so......
Hey Todd are satisfied with the light spread from the reflector? Would differant angles on the perpindicular sides give you much better spread? That is quite a bit of tank that is getting very little light. Kinda neat though that you can see the line of light from the reflector and into the water with very little bleed over that line...
