I picked up this LeeMar tank from my neighbor for a really reasonable price - the tank 6'l x 24" h x 30" d glass, custom steel stand, 60G sump, all of the pumps and other miscellaneous equipment. I had a rough time finding someone to move it - even though it was just a block away. We moved it in today and I've got my first challenge - dried coralline algae on the glass. My neighbor cleaned up most of the coralline off of the glass, but there's a light coating of white on much of the glass.
I'm cleaning now with vinegar, but I'm not feeling like I'm making much progress. I'm wondering how visible it'll be if I fill the tank - and if it will clean up easier once the tank is full and the coralline has an opportunity to soften up wet. Am I just wishful here? I'd appreciate some other thoughts on it. I'm willing to take this build slow, the real time driver for getting the tank wet is that I've got an large red BTA and 2 clowns that are temporarily in a 40G - they've been there for over a month and should be ok, but there's lots of cyno and hair algae - would be better for them to be back in their big tank for the stability.
Back to the coralline algae though - I'm using vinegar to try and soften it up, I have draped paper towels on the glass and am keeping them wet to try and keep it wet with vinegar. Any better ideas, and thoughts about how visible it'll be once the tank is full.
