My new zoa looks awful

Bought a new zoa on frag did 5-7 minute dip in RO water before adding to my tank as recommended by LFS it is staying totally closed and looks terrible I also bought some new fuel coral food and gave the tank some last night. I thought it would have looked better by next morning but it doesn’t. How long should it take to open. What else should I do?

Zoas can take a while to open. I have had some that stay closed for a week or longer. Keep tank parameters stable and let them do their thing.

Good feedback given above. That rock looks very new and zoanthids typically like a "more dirty" tank (nutrient wise). Just make sure you are not starving them and they'll certainly open up.

i’m not sure why they said to dip in rodi water. if anything, you’ll want to use some type of iodine based coral dip solution. this is not related to the polyps being closed, however.

Yes I got the rock at same time as the zoa just yesterday should I feed this coral more than the recommended twice a week at first?

You shouldn't need to feed them. If you do, it would need to be broadcast fed and very small particles, but they'll do just find with nutrient availability in the water.
