Since you can't really fit a skimmer on an eight gallon nano, I got a surface skimmer, and modified it for my tank. I just put it in there this morning, and it is working great! You will need to buy an Aquaclear Surface skimmer. It will fit into the back right chamber of the nano cube, IF you turn the adjustment to close the bottom totally, and cut the bottom off, to the edge of the plug inside the bottom. Then, you need to cut the adjustment thing at the top, the black thing, so that it fits in with your lid shut. If you build your own canister filter like I did, you will then attach the out take tube to the skimmer, and it will pull the surface water from your tank, into your canister filter. You can fit it in there, without the suction cups, beside a heater. It is working beautifully!
