My Petco’s beautiful reefs

Good morning everyone! Unfortunately it appears that friendly and civil conversation cannot be had so I will be locking this thread. Please refrain from making another thread in regards to the same subject. Were all here for the same reason, for our love of coral reefs and our tanks. Not to talk bad about companies (regardless of their nature) and fight and troll one another.

Petco, petsmart, and petland should stop selling live animals. It’s not only fish that suffer in those stores. We also need stricter oversight of animal welfare. I don’t think there’s anything inherently evil with corporations but also dont believe these particular companies care about animals beyond the impact on the revenue stream.

Let’s not forget that these stores do an enormous harm to the hobby in at least 2 important ways: 1) discourage many people from staying in the hobby for belief that it’s impossible to keep healthy fish; 2) being the poster child of animal cruelty for many emotionally charged campaigns by various organizations that seem to be more and more successful in putting restrictions on the hobby

^^ Yup. There's a saying: Either police yourself or the govt. will be more than happy to do it for you. Something tells me within the next 5 years or so this industry is going to find out what it's like to have The Man in your life.
