Hello everyone I'm here to share my beautiful picasso onyx babies and my achievement on breeding. 2 of the best lineage that at one time was and is the best in the usa &the world let's start my their mother she was purchased in 2010 from donisreef .she is and a extreme picasso.she's a beast. 2nd the father he is a "true c-quest" and anyone that know breeding know that generations play a big role.my onyx ' s parents were used as breeder pairs at c-quest hatchery so my onyx has very solid llineage as far as generation I picked him approximately over 130 onyx I picked the best .around 10 onyx I picked 5 for my personal breeding project but each one through different tests to see how their black holds on and not fade.( NOT ALL C-QUEST ONYX ARE CREATED EQUAL)some don't do good on my tests .both my male onyx had 3 bars full black but he has extra white markings .he would be consider a grade be if he was a picasso. End now I share a few pictures of their offsprings.

These shots were taken outside my block .no led or mh used to enhance their color.

Great looking clowns. Any pics of the bloodstock?

The time you took to produce such great clowns is admirable. Cant wait for mine to arrive Tuesday

Here is a video of one i kept from last year's small batch i kept.he is a nice grade B and is now part of my next project 100% percula .hybrid is a no no.in my picasso projects. He is sibling of the ones in the picture
Watch "VID 2014 AlRod's NOT FOR SALE (this male from 2014)" on YouTube

congratulations, my bali aquarich i bought from elos in 2013 just had their 4th lay.

I'm trying to get another donisreef picasso. One purchased from donisreefs.the new ones in my opinion holds no weight.

It has always been my personal and professional belief that bringing USA's oldest 2 clownfish lineages would produce awesome potential picassos. During this last decade, both breeders, Doni's Reef and C-Quest Hatchery have produced some of the nicest clownfishes in the world... Doni's with her extreme helmet picasso perculas and C-Quest with their "Onyx" jet black & crazy red-orange perculas.
In the last 5 years, severe careless inbreeding by USA breeders has diluted the gene pool in both lineages... as most breeders are chasing the dollar rather than focused on improving the clownfish. Physical defects and washed out colors creeping into breeder's breeding program. Breeders aren't culling their defects and sacrifice their breeding program by using what I would consider culls in their breeding. Again, because of chasing the dollar, many breeders have developed what I call "breeder's blindness" as they cannot see the obvious defects in their own clownfishes or choose to overlook them. I know as I am a clownfish collector and I collect clownfishes from all over the world. My pet peeve is I hate paying for breeder's culls.

It was exciting to see AlRod step away from all that and became passionate in finding the best pair he could find of both genuine Doni's and genuine C-Quest to put together... and I believe he found that winning combination. This is where a lot of newbie breeders make, they ignorantly take a pair of clownfishes from the same parents, so they start off with brother to sister inbreeding. AlRod has taken Doni's best with genetics to express crazy picasso markings and the vibrant colors from C-Quest produced the best onyx picasso perculas I have seen to date. It is not just pattern and colors, but good conformation because he started with excellent specimens as broodstock. The 2 lineages combined refreshed the genes pool of both severely inbred lineages. If I was a breeder, I would have chosen the same route as AlRod and I would have tried out many pairs of Doni's x C-Quest until I find the winning combination pair. I am excited about owning a family of AlRod's Onyx Picassos for my personal collection. Great job Al.

Thank you. With these offsprings anything you mix these guys will give their offsprings some color , and paterns for example adding a bali black picasso, or a good quality onyx, or if someone has a female sustainable aquatics female these guys will add color and patern SA need black in them they have a low% that as they mature they turn black
