Extra pictures of the tank.
I started the tank at the beginning of the year. It’s super easy. My nitrogen cycle went by fast. It only took like 2/3 weeks. I added a CUC of 5 hermits and a snail as soon as I saw diatoms. So far I've got zoas, GSP, a muchroom, a ricordea mushroom, monitpora, a chalice, a flower anemone, and two pavonas. I have a small banded serpent starfish that was a hitchhiker. Once a week I feed Polyplabs polyp booster and reef roids then do a 100% water change 2/3 hours later.

2 gallon cookie jar - $25 (Target) https://www.target.com/p/heritage-hill-glass-jar-2-gal/-/A-10620266

38par led bulb - $25 (Amazon)
50 watt heater - $10 (Amazon)
50GPH pump - $10 (Amazon)
Few pounds of wet rock - $10 (LFS)

Aragonite sand - $15 (LFS)

2 gallons of water from my LFS display tank.

Polyplab polypbooster and reefroids -$40 https://www.polyplab.com

Coral -$???

One little bit of advise. If you wanna try something like this, bring the cookie jar to the LFS and make sure the rocks you buy fit well in the tank. I tried to go for a rock with multiple layers.
As much as I recommend going and checking out your LFS, the cheapest corals you’ll find are from other reefer in the hobbies. Your best bet is to utilize both. Don’t spend $20 on GSP for the LFS if there are local hobbies giving it away.

I found my states local reef club site on here but honesty the site i found is kinda slow. I did meet a cool local in my town on www.coralpickup.com though.

Seriously Awesome Pico!!!! I had the same jar but did a fresh water pico:)

I am seriously thinking about throwing one of these together. Thanks for the parts list.

Yea but how many tangs do you plan to add, 2 or 3?

I keep the lid on to avoid evaporation. I put a small amount of silicone on the lid and rim so that it keeps a good seal. Also it isn't as noisy.
Exactly what i was looking for...meaning you dont have to worry about top off or anything i can dig it. How about your cords n stuff did you notch out your silicon to account for that stuff?

Any updates looks like things were going along nicely? I am curious to know how high off your tank you have your light?

I’ll get an up to date photo tonight. The tanks been doing good! I actually started a new tank this week for my desk at work!

How is the Pulaco 50gph pump working out? I was going to get one for my reef jars but saw a review stating they would not hold up in saltwater due to the steel shaft. Is that true in your experience?
