My polyps are growing deformed. Like really, really deformed.

These are WWC Midnight Daisy Polyps (not the crazy fast growing type). I took the photo at night so they would be closed. Some of them have started to grow with these tube type things coming out of the top and I may see a couple out of the sides. I don't know if they were normal in the beginning or if they grew this way. Any ideas?

Totally normal.I believe they send those out looking for other rocks to grab onto. That’s how they spread.

Thanks! I had no idea they did that. So far they have only spread by growing out from the edges, like zoas. I was concerned that they were diseased.

Should get you an emerald crab for the bubble algae on it, but that aside I'd have freaked out too if my coral went elephant man like that

Yeah. You’ll see those eventually cling to a rock and lots of baby polyps
