Wow the whole town over here doesn't have power since 3pm yesterday. I just got my power back. I called a few friends and some of the still have no power. I was so worried about my tank as it dropped to 67 degrees. I had candles all around my tank trying to keep it warm. lol. You know something i think all the acans and micros like the colder temp as they are all puffed up and all the tentacles are out. All the zoas and palys closed up.

Hope everything works out for you. I had a similar problem, but mine was only out for about 8 hours. I had to stir the water in the tank to keep the circulation going. :) A lot of corals were unhappy, but I didn't loose anything.

i see where Sam said something on the RC club forum about his power being out also. but won't be back on for several days.

yikes!

thats the reason why i bought a battery backup (ggod for 40 hours with one pump) and a generator

I hope everything does well

please keep us updated

Yep.. gave my generator away to a friend in roanoke today.. i hope I don't lose power while they work on something in the area. I live south of roanoke, and our power fails all the time. Sam got his back just a bit ago, but I think he's already suffered some serious loss. Good luck Tony with the zoa/paly problem.

Hope all is well.. keep ius updated..

A couple years ago I lost power for 9 days. There where only a few people with power and one was my neighbor. I ran a cord over to his house for some power and could only get my 2 tanks going. My wife still tells the story about me keeping my corals and fish alive, but her and the kids almost froze to death.

Hope everything makes it! Hurricane Ivan left us without power for several days in '05 and I lost several things from my tank. After that I bought a generator so I wouldn't have to watch my tank go downhill from power loss again. I spent hours with a water pitcher scooping and pouring trying to keep circulation going. Good luck and hope you get power back soon!

Well looks like everything made it through ok except the RPE's are all closed and small looking. Power went out again for 3 hours today but that's not too bad.

i do not understand how anyone can have an aquarium with sometime many thousands invested and not own a generator. :( if nothing else a small honda generator that can even be stored and ran from the porch of a condo if need be. it should be in your initial budget when you set up your tank. i have a 5000 watt portable generator than runs everything but my lights. i also run my furnace, frig, well pump, hot water heater, and a couple rooms of lights. only run the hot water heater for a while then run tank lights for a while if needed.
best investment i have ever made. i am going this summer to switch over to a generac 15k watt whole house generator that runs off of my propane tanks that i currently use for heat.

Glad to hear most everything made it. If those RPE's don't make it let me know. I have more than a few polyps to spare.
