My RBTA has split. Is it a good thing? or a result of stress? It started looking weird two days ago. Before it was growing and happy with the maroon clown that was taking care of it and the occasional mussel chunks from my part.
Tank is already dark, hence the low quality.

Good? It’s propagation by dividing and trying to fill the tank with clones.

OK so it's not stress. Yesterday I was using Aipasia X and supplementing K (it was a bit low at 370 ppm) and thought it was related. Thanks

Actually your chemical manipulation may have encouraged it to split for better odds of survival in a dynamic environment? I am not sure if those “stressor’s “ had an impact, I have not seen any research that demonstrates what cues a nem to split. Lots of anecdotes are reported in the hobby?
I would watch carefully going forward and trade in the less active split for credit unless you want to have a tank filled with bta. I always enjoyed trading split s but got tired of it and traded the active parent to end that action.
of course I regretted that later but that’s the hobby.

Splitting is often due to a stress event.

Keep water quality, lighting, flow, and feeding in tip top shape and you’ll have 2 anemones for the price of one! :)

I do just that. my corals are doing great almost like my Vermatid snails, Aiptasia and Valonia . The good news is that my estranged male maroon clown will get his RBTA to linger in.
