So I am pretty new to this hobby, but I have done quite a bit of reading around here, well before I even started my tank buold Seems one of the most common themes to the overall health of new additions is a correct acclimation/QT process. I told myself I would follow this theory (as best I could) with all the additions of my new tank, and after looking at the bottom of the Styrofoam bucket I used to acclimate my most recent coral additions, I feel pretty good about the decision to dip them.[emoji2]

It's really hard to tell what's in that water. It could just be sand and detritus from larger rocks. Did you get any colonies or anything on big rocks?
Either way dipping is always good for new additions. Let's see your tank!

Dipping and QT is important the hitchhikers might not harm the corals that they come in on but might harm corals in the DT

For me personally and my opinion only.
Sps=Bayer
LPS & softies= most any other dip.
Bayer does great with Sps, but not so much the other 2. Softies and LPS do good with the other 2 but they don't kill everything. Most of the things they don't kill are things that pray on Sps so this combo is for the most part the best of both worlds.
All that said I use Bayer for all my dips although Bayer shouldn't be used without doing your research because it can harm invertebrates if not rinsed properly and it can be harsh on LPS and softies. I just like to make sure everything that's bad dies!(I've also never lost anything to a dip)

It was tons of debris, and about 30 bristle worms.
