I just bought this tank from someone. He got out of the hobby tank need 's tons of work. It has tons of aiptasia it's I cant-belive-able bad. LOL. It came with a beautiful leather. a paired of clow, yellow eye kole tang, and some shrooms. I will keep updates as I go with tank

A 120 gal. is a great size tank. Maybe get a small Matted Filefish for your aiptasia problem.

Peppermint shirmp are also very good to get rid of aiptasia. I had a few aiptasia, got 3 peppermint shrimp one afternoon, and in the morning I couldn't find anymore aiptasia.

Ok here is a pic a few days later the sand has settled down and fixed the rocks a bit so it dont look so bad . used some aiptasia x and some has died off.

I also went to lfs today and they did not have peppermint shrimp or filefish. will wait a few more days

copperband worked very well for me!!!!! had them all over my tank... even in the sand..

Looks like a lot of work, I would take all the live stuff to a lfs to hold on to, then bleach the live rock, replace the sand then scrub the tank clean. If you don't feel like doing that, I saw another comment that said to get a filefish and I would agree with that.

Aren't filefish known for nipping at corals?

I have to do research but i might go with about 5 shrimp they are more easy to get here

Personally, I'd go with the peppermint shrimp also because I had good results from them.
But then, I've never had filefish so I'm just going by what I've heard and read. Filefish supposedly also pick on invertabrates.

There are diff types of peppermint shrimp some will not eat aiptasia so make sure you get the right ones.

I need you guys opinion. I hope you guys can help me I build a canopy out of 2x4's for my 120 gal but now i'm concerned of the weight ? can it handle the wight it still needs the skin and lights. What do yo think?

Is there any way to mount the rear of the canopy to the wall? Kinda have the back half floating, and have the front half resting on the tank?

If concerned about weight you could use 1x2 or 1x1. Then use 1/4" ply to skin the canopy

Why not consider using 3/4"x3/4" blocks in the corners to secure the panels? Less weight. Be sure to waterproof it with an alkyd paint or similar. A 1/4" or 3/8" marine grade plywood would be sturdy enough that way.
