I fear poisoning, feedback from an ICP test said nickel in the water, now I suddenly see that all the corals are pulling in completely. discovered that the water pump I use to change the water has a rusty screw (chinese alibaba pump)
large water changes? And of curse i have run out of carbon

What kind of coral is this? Hopefully they’ll pull through for you. Don’t forget to try to maintain nutrient levels by either over feeding or dosing a little bit of nitrate and phosphate since you’re doing such large water changes.
Lobophylia, but all my corals are bad now, sps tortch, euphylia.

Can tyis be the source? And the tin levels have bee increasing? This is a 3 mount old ICP test

I think dinos might be the problem. I would run GAC replaced weekly for now. The polyfilter is also a good idea. Then work on getting that brown stuff in the sand under a microscope.

I dont think one small rusty screw on a WC pump would do that. Look for other magnets. Wave makers, probe holders, all pumps etc.

Do a huge WC and remember a 50% WC will only bring that tin down to 10%.

Trening out the chineese frag rack. Now I only have quality stuff left.

What is a polyfilter? GAC - what is that?

GAC is granular activated carbon. It’s carbon you put in a bag to remove colors, odors, possible toxins. It’s different than carbon dosing. If you have dinos GAC can help remove toxins.

Poly filters remove stuff too. But primarily used for metal reductions.

Rusty screw isn’t your problem… your photos appear to show Dino’s in your tank and that’s what’s ticking everything off.. it could be diatoms but the only sure way to tell is with a microscope… from reading your posts and seeing the pics I’d say it’s Dino’s.. I’ve had pumps completely rust and leach into my tank and nothing showed any signs of illness..

Hmmm. it can be dino, I've had cyano not too long ago. How do you handle this? didn't think Dino's algae killed corals. typically, I'm going on vacation tomorrow morning.

Not sure how to handle it until you figure out what strain it is with a microscope.. one of the safest ways is start dosing silicates to introduce a diatom bloom and run a uv sterilizer if you have one..
