My Reef Journey Begins!

I'm lucky the same way. Nothing like getting paid to be on here
Here's my quick pic from yesterday before work blues all on as I never see the whites because I'm at work

Rambling is always welcome.

Didn't get to the tank early enough for a good pic under white lights. Turned into a much busier evening than I expected. Here is a FTS under the blues.

Why you stole someone else's image???:p

Love the rockscape!!!;)

In anticipation of actually needing my Apex DOS dosing pumps, I ordered BRS 2 part during the last bulk buy since it was 15% off. I was excited to see I had almost 40ppm calcium consumed in the last week. Didn't expect nearly that much. So I pulled the shipping box from BRS out and opened it up. Go figure.. .BRS 2 part is 3 parts... Why did I think BRS 2 part would be, I don't know... 2 parts????? :rolleyes:o_O

Yeah, it's odd they call it 2-part when it's actually 3-part. Guess it's bc you primarily (around 80% or more) only dose the two elements calcium and alkalinity, and only dose magnesium rarely (after about 1 gallon of cal and alk each do I need to adjust magnesium on my system; I also use BRS)

Although recently (about a month ago) I had a system crash where all my sps and lps died(!) from an overdose of NOPOX....faulty doser. So technically I no longer need to dose any elements, currently

That stinks, sorry to hear that!

Catching up on your build thread, a lot of progress.

Thanks, it has been an adventure to say the least! I can't believe how much I have learned through this process.

Today I lost my anemone. I am hoping that it is just too new of an aquarium to support one. I'll try again in a few months.

I've also decided to replace my lighting. The homemade fixture that came with the tank is nothing but blue and white LED's. It's nice because it is adjustable using my Apex but I want a wider spectrum. I was originally just going to solder in some new LED's but I won't be able to get the independent channels that I want as far as control.

Hum what size tank again? I read to many threads. I have reefbrite xhos and love them. But then again I don't mind if the lights don't ramp up and down. I also like the hydra 26s that light will be on my frag tank.

Its a 6ft long 125 gallon tank. Very long, narrow, and fairly short. 72"x18" x20"

Brew, I think the 32" sb lights will be fine on that tank. Sorry about the anemone, they can be difficult especially in a newer tank.

I should have known better. I will definitely wait before adding another. Thanks for the input on the lights! I thought about 3 16" lights but with the way I basically have the 2 rock islands I think the 2 32" will work better.

Ah one of those. Yea they are tough to work with. But I'm sure u will be good how's the frags looking?
Ur throwing me off with ur new photo as well

My frags are all looking pretty good. I made a mistake dosing alk a few days ago and bleached 2 of them almost instantly. Other than that, they are doing great!
Figured the coral was a more theme appropriate pic than the hot coil of steel.
