My saltwater journal.

Yes! I am super excited. can barely contain myself at work (yes i am posting from desk xD)

I just wanted to comment that I read through the thread and enjoyed your journal :) I really like that you're incorporating macros into the tank. You have quite an interesting little eco-system there. I really like it!

Thank you so much! It makes me happy to be able to incorporate my love for freshwater systems into my salt tank with macros!

I have to catch my Red Head Goby. It's aggression is just out of this world! I feel so bad for my Greenbanded goby's. I can feel their stress. It's so upsetting. Its relentless. It seems to want to kill everything on the sandbed.

Congrats to me for getting my Gracilaria to go sexual. Got a nice piece from reefcleaners and then not really thinking... burried it. So! Big water change this morning >.<

Ya live and learn.

Wasnt bad at all. No one in my home noticed it but me. My tank was just a bit murky and I looked and saw the Graci pretty white. Touched it and it pretty much melted in my hand. Did a 5g water change and everything looked great a couple hours later.

I didnt pull out the rest of it that had floated away. I'm sure it will anchor itself to something at some point and be fine.

I'm realizing that I had a piece of Ulva in my tank that never grew. Reading about it now it seems to take in alot of nutrients. I havent even seen it in some time! Does that mean im nutrient free?

Fern Caulerpa is taking off though. My goodness I can see the growth in hour increments....

The macros all take in the nutrients at a different pace, so one may steal from another if you have a low nutrient system, leaving the other kinda dormant or not growing much.

I love the look of Ulva though... what should i do?

(BTW im thinking... DUMP ALL THE NUTRIENTS!)

Can you see this guy? I'm sitting in front of my tank just looking and here he is. I don't know him and I sure don't know how he got in here. What the heck man! What is he?!?

It looks like possibly a gorilla crab. Google gorilla crab and see if thats it.

I instantly take it back. I know who it is and it makes me sad.

I moved the rock and saw it up close. Im almost 100% sure its my pom pom crab. Rings on legs gave it away and the claws are ***** small. Looks like he lost his nems...

Well that's a whole lot better than what I thought it may be based off of shell color! So how do you get new nems for it? Maybe it will use a couple of frilly zoas instead? Lol
