My sea star is desintegrating...

Hey guys, ive had this indian sea star for about 3 weeks. Yesterday it started desintegrating and lost 2 legs allready. I know how sensible they are with water conditions fluctuating but i thought im good after him surviving more than a week. The tank is 9months old with plenty of algae but also some green cyano. I supplement feed with various foods like nori, spirulina, phytoplancton and various meaty foods since i habe many inverts in my reef.

Did i mess up somehow or is it still part of sea stars adapting poorly to changes after 3 weeks?

Also nothing i can do anymore right?

From what I have researched on them,
that's a sign of fluctuations in salinity. Either the acclimation was too fast, or the salinity in the tank changed. Due to the cellular structure of sea stars they literally fall apart at a cellular level.
If the damage stays on the limbs there is some chance of survival. However, if the central disk is affected it will not survive.

Okay ty, i drip acclimated for 3+ hours since i know how fragile sea stars could be. This was my first since i was scared to ever try one. I was away for 2 weeks now with a short stay in between. About 3 days before i came back my brother who was taking care of the tank had to change my ro-cannister since it ran empty. After he re-plugged my tunze ato something went wrong and the ato didnt work for a few days. I had to refill like 5-10litres (250l system) when i got home. This mostve caused the damage. Center is still looking okay. Hope he makes it.

Not much you can do except keep your parameters perfect and hope.
I see something pretty in the lower right corner of your picture.

Well i hope so, from my research it should be a indian sea star. Most certainly reefsafe. Lower right corner is my rbta that i accidentily bought when my tank was 3weeks old(including cycle)
After realising my mistake i freaked but somehow managed to do thE trick. Its the size of a plate now and houses my platinum percula clown. Hes getting a partner soon(currently in qt)
