Last weekend I bought 2 blue leg hermit crabs and a snail as the first introductions into my tank. Well, the two crabs got home and in the tank fine but I accidentally left my snail at my girlfriends house in the bag. I thought for sure he was a gonner. This weekend my girlfriend came over and brought my bag with the snail in it and said "Look what I found". I thought "well, I'll throw his shell in the tank and maybe the crabs will eat his corpse or take his shell." But before I got the chance, I noticed the snail crawling up the side of the bag! Little sucker was still alive after being in that bag for a week! So I acclimated him and threw him into the tank last night. This morning, he has moved his position so he seems to be ok! Little snail is a survivor! I'm gonna have to name him Rambo...
Oh, while I'm on the topic about snails and crabs, are they as sensitive as fish? Do I need to acclimate snails and crabs or can I just throw them in the tank right away?
PS, is $3.00 per crab/snail too much to pay at a LFS? Sounds kinda steep...
