Hello, I have recently bought a big frag of soft corals and some won’t open up. Can anyone please help.

What kind of corals? Some take a little while to open up, some open up right away. Depends on how they were acclimated, lights, water parameters, etc. I got a pile of corals today (black friday deals) and they all opened up within an hour or so. All tanks are differnet though.

There are GSP, Palys, zoas, some sort of flower looking corals are open but one that kind of look like small mangroves all on one big rock. I acclimated them for 45 minutes and have an aqua illumination light. My water parameters are good. I did a water change before I got the corals.

I bet the mangrove looking ones are clove polyps. But anyways im sure they will all open up by tommorow. Some zoa’s and palys take a while. Once they open up i like to give them a healthy mist of reef roids to make them happy. Do you have pictures?

They look like they are starting to open up, GSP is sometimes finicky. Id check tommorow when all the lights are on. Mine all close up at night when the lights go out.

Do you think the Goby I have is affecting the cloves to come out

Maybe if its picking at them, but i feel like most gobys are reef safe? What are your water parameters and what lights do you run? Im no expert but good lights and healthy parameters are the most important thing.

The Goby isn’t doing anything he is just perching on top of them. I have an aqua illumination light.
