I'm not new to salt, but haven't been around for that long either. Roughly 7 years now. I've gone from the 55 up to a 180 and a bunch in between. I've had one tank, I've had 13 running at one time. Then it all fell apart.

Let me explain a bit. I didn't quit the hobby, just sorta let go. We moved recently. Now anyone that has a tank and moved from one residence to another knows the headache of moving a tank(s). I sold off my 180, moved a bunch, and downsized a bunch. Sold some equipment that I kinda regret now, lost some fish and corals. Once the move was complete and in the new house, I managed to break my foot. Really hard to move a large tank around hobbling on one foot. So it took the back seat again. Now that I am back working and things are back to normal, I have been sent out of town for work. Been gone all but 1 day this last month! Hard to get stuff set up again when you're not even home.

Honestly, I miss it and don't miss it at the same time. I miss my little slice of the ocean. I miss knowing I get to care for the animals in my systems. I don't miss the maintenance that goes along with it. Currently I have a single 20 long housing a couple clowns and a few soft corals. A new basement build for a 120 is currently stalled, as I'm not home. The struggle is real.

Who else has struggled?

Yup. Life got crazy for me and I neglected my tank. Tried several times to get rid of the hair algae, but didn't quite try hard enough. Always felt guilty every time I looked at it. It was hard.

I was about to give up and donate my tank to a LFS (which I would have regretted) and my husband says-why not get a new tank and start again?

so for the first time in a long time, I am excited about my tank again. (even though it's a little ugly right now)

it is a real struggle. I hope you get your 120 going and things work out so you can enjoy this incredible hobby again.

Just don't quit.:)

I have no plans to quit. There is to much enjoyment in this hobby.

Sounds like a good husband there, just remember to keep up on the tank maintenance.

My tank gave me a hard time the last 3-4 years with issues I couldn't pinpoint. That caused me to bait maintenance and efforts and time spent without positive results.
As soon as things reversed it totally lifted my enthusiasm again and I'm back tomenjoying the tank despite maintenance a time and effort spent.
