I have a red sea reefer 250. Recently I was working in the sump with a hammer nailing up my reactor to the back wall when it slipped out of my hand and fell and broke the glass divider between the sump area and return pump, and at the same time broke the adjust knob on my skimmer.

SO my question is Now what?!

Can I glue my skimmer back together somehow? Does anyone know of a bigger replacement sump I could possibly get?

Unit I fix this my skimmer and auto top off is down so I need a quick solution before everything starts dieing. :(

Do you have pictures?
Does the skimmer still run? If so, can you in the very least rig it to skim until you find a long term solution? Can you throw a used HOB skimmer on temporarily?

I do have a small hob skimmer I am using temporary. The only thing that broke on the big skimmer is the adjustment knob I'll post pics when I get a chance

Ok I will try that to fix the skimmer. I cut a new pane of glass and it's in the sump now. How long should it take the silicone to cure?

So I'm going to have to go without any filtration for 24 hours. Do you think everything will be ok?

make yourself a diy algae scrubber, that should buy you enough time to save up for a skimmer/sump tank . and would only cost you around 20 bucks to make, not considering you prbably have all the parts for one.
Algae scrubbers great for phos n nitrate.

Jus made an algae scrubber. Cost me 8 bucks since I had most of it already.

So that's what I came up with. My sump isn't big enough for a algae scrubber. But I do have a HOB refugium with chaeto. But my sps corals weren't doing well before. I'm sure they will end up dead in a few days. :(

Not yet, I will work on it tomorrow (procrastination) and I will try the superglue and baking soda as I have both those on hand. On a side note is 2 AI primes enough light for my coral?

Now I have this hard white film on the inside of the glass. Any idea what it could be? It's not algae.

If it were me I would let that silicone cure for much longer than 48 hours before I were to run tank water thru it. More like 4-7 days IMO
