My Tang is turning white/gray HELP!!!!

My yellow tang is fairly new and he is turning a grayish white and even has a gray spot on his fin above. I've included a video and picture. Please help because I'm concerned that it could be a serious disease that could wipe out my tank and I don't know what to do.

I've had it for about 2 weeks and lately it has been swimming closer to the top of the tank and near the power heads. Is that a bad sign?

Tangs are very oxygen sensitive. You need more water flow or more air in the system.

But I've had another Tang for a year and it's been fine. This new one is the only fish in my tank that looks funny overnight.

What are you feeding it?/ They depend on vitamins and aminos for stability and color. Consider bumping up vitamins by use of Selcon or other vitamin additive in the food and foods shoulb be at mininu,. dry seaweed, kelp, Mysis shrimp, formula 2 or similar veggie diet and plankton as well as LRS or Rods.

We have been feeding it a combo of Mysis shrimp and dry seaweed. I also mix in drops of Marine Vitachem to the food.

Swimming into the powerheads is a sign of velvet. That combined with the gray around his gills would have me a bit concerned. The top fin looks to be the start of something bacterial, but could be secondary to whatever is affecting his gills...

Could you perform a freshwater dip to check for flukes? That would be a good first step.

If it were me, I’d probably want him in a QT to observe a little better... with antibiotics and copper at the ready.

Add other meaty foods and especially veggie and what is salinity in tank? Their preferred range is 1.025-1.027

Swimming near the power heads could be an indication of Velvet.

But a symptom of Brook is the fish appears to be covered in a white powder. So the grayish-white coloring may be that. Has this area become larger?

Both Brook and Velvet are fatal if left untreated.
