my tang learned the hard way

ya they both lived threw the experiance i just slowly opened the clam but thought it was a cool pix an wanted to share it

How did you open the clam? Doing so you may have stressed it very badly.

I hate to say it but I used a butter knife:squigglemouth: on an area that had no flesh outan tryed to be as gental as possible worrying about breaking its shell or worse:sad:buteverything worked out an the clam is still doing great

lol seriously? Its well known that tangs can be every bit as bad of a nipper as angelfish.

Yeah Tangs are actually bad because they try to nip at the algae on the clam shell and sometimes they get into trouble very quickly.

They tend to want to pick at any algae growing on the mantle. I'm just surprised that the calm was strong enough to be able to stay shut. Must be a really healthy clam.

Really..... my yellow tang nips more then my large passer angel..... and the YT doesn't just go for algea either
