I left to go on vacation with family two days ago to Europe. I left detailed instructions for the care taker of my tank, writing down in great detail anything and everything that could have gone wrong. Unfortunately the one time something goes wrong, I am not there. The caretaker noticed that the Air Conditioning was out and the inside of the house was 85; the thermostat in the tank read 88. After going a day and a half the AC is just now back up and through the camera I have set up on the tank I can see that the fish are ok, however the quality is terrible and I cannot tell if the coral is ok. I got some pictures of the tank recently and about half the corals have all of their polyps retracted and the other half are half closed and look ticked. I believe that most of the corals are going to pull through and the fish are fine… but it really makes me think about what I would do if the tank crashed. The worst part was that the time change is such, that during the daytime at my vacation, it is night at my home, so all I can do is just sit and think about how there is nothing I can do! Just thought I would share this.

Yowza, sorry to hear about your issues. I was across the country for a week, and two days before I got home the skimmer overflowed, then the ups died bringing the Temps down to almost 70, rushed home and everything was in ok shape, but I'm lucky. Without the apex I would have been toast!

Reef tanks are so challenge, but worth their weigh in gold from the beauty. Keep up your spirits, it'll turn out all right.
