Have you tried reaching in to see if it falls apart? Looks like new sand that just might me stuck together!

Do you have any wrasses? Makes me think could be a mucous cocoon. Nothing to worry about if so.

Snail strail maybe? I’ve seen mine leave a few piles like this.

My snails do that, but its usually not a big ball/clump like that. My snails leave a trail of something sticky that clumps the sand a bit, but not usually to that extent. I'd still guess its snail related though.

I posted this same thing on Facebook. Someone said they thought conchs would do this and I do have 2 conchs.
The only wrasse I have is a six line, I didn't think they buried themselves.
