My tank is making me sick literally

How old are you? Do you exercise? If so, do you have similar symptoms while you exercise? Can you replicate the pain when you press on your chest or if twist stretch or bend?

I’m 27 and I’m a tree guy. I climb and cut trees for living. I exercise everyday

I’m the lowest paid professional on the food chain sounds above my pay grade  Since it’s not an exercise issue it doesn’t sound like angina. But who knows, could be some toxin from your tank that aerosolized like previously mentioned if you were wearing gloves. They’ll probably draw some labs, do an EKG and go from there. I wouldn’t worry too much.

Best of luck, your health always comes first, soooo glad you are getting checked out.
You should post a photo of your zoas and palys soooo we can have an idea and maybe slowly be able to create some kind of list in the future of the ones to be a little more cautious about.

The only palys I have a nuclears no name green ones and captain americas

Man, I hope everything is going fine, better to be in the safe side and go to ER.

The dull colored plain looking palys do have the most palytoxin from what I've read.

I'm interested in the mechanism where palytoxin get's aerosolized. How does that happen? Every instance of aerosol exposure I've heard of required the coral to be removed from the tank or the rock to be "cooked".

RJ, you don't have any problems with dinoflagellates in your tank do you? They have also been known to produce palytoxin!

How did your hospital visit go? I hope you’re doing better.

Well I went the hospital around 6:30. We stayed there till 12:30 when I finally walked out Bc I was feeling better but not 100% percent, but good enough that I was tired of listening to one psycho lady talking bout her knee and how it seperates from the rest of her bones and it’s some special condition, but yet she can get out of her wheel chair to walk outside and smoke. There were other crazy’s too. If nothing else I’ll have a few things to take away from this adventure, #1 a lot of interesting stories and #2 the flu

I hope you are feeling better. Was it a case of the flu you had in the first place? There is a national epidemic going around.

No no flu before but I could possibly. That’s what the er was filled with people with the flu. I’m feeling better but still feeling some of the affects

I have a large colony of Duncanopsammia axifuga aka whisker coral, although i have some palys and zoas etc....i find this coral to be my biggest hazard in the aquarium. Next to the 5 inch female Goldstripe Maroon ..[she has needle teeth]. The duncan can and will sting when too close. It usually gets me when i clean the glass inside the aquarium. Then later on that night or the next morning my hand feels as if i laid it on the table and let someone hit it repeatedly with a hammer. Pure pain and cramps for at least 2 days afterwards.

It could also be the effects of some marine bacteria (e.g., Vibrio sp.) if you have any minor cuts on your arms.

I would take out the Palys. But dont lift them over the water surface. Just put a bucket in the tank and put them in it. When you take out the bucket pour carefully out water at the surface so its just covering the Palys. Then take the bucket outside and add some bleach (1/3) to unpoison it for a few days. Keep it out of reach for children and dogs.
In the tank you can reduce the amount of palytoxin with active carbon filtering.

I'm curious if you were an activated carbon in your system?
