Beautiful photos. What lens are you using? What shutter speed are you at? You really froze the fish without blur.

Thanks, these are with the nikon Z7ii with the 24-70 2.8 z.
Was shooting around 1/125 but with a bit of flash which froze the motion.

How have you liked the subject tracking and eye detection for the fish? What are your thoughts on the new body vs your SLR?

Subject tracking works OK on people and on pets (my dog), it however wasn't satisfactory on some fish like my Achilles where there is little contrast, it was a bit better on lighter fish with contrasting colors or marking like the pyramid butterflies or especially the zebra tang.
still I have just received the camera and these are the first few shots with it. Also I noticed it had an older firmware so upgrading to the latest 1.4 firmware and will try again and report back in the coming days.
also worth noting that Nikon subject tracking for fast moving subjects and busy backgrounds isn't as good as canon or Sony for the Z6-7 series, z9 has solved it but price range is way above my budget...
On the bright side focusing is way better compared to my D750 especially with focusing points covering the whole field VS the limited focusing area on the D750. metering and colors are way way better and shots straight out of camera are way ahead.
New body is way different, much much smaller and lighter, while a plus for some to me this was a negative as holding the camera with a front heavy lens is even harder.. not a big deal as I'm used to buying the battery grip and adding a second battery which makes it bigger and a bit heavier. grip feel with the the battery grip is great with a deep groove for fingers to securely hold camera.
File size is way larger than my D750 but I just upgraded my pc no no issues with processing speed.
I don't do video normally but tried few shots and focusing is way way better in video than DSLR where you don't feel the jerky focusing anymore.
will update again after I install the latest firmware and after I use the camera a bit more.

Can you share more details about the flash set up you are using? Thanks!

That's only for fish shots, I normally use an on camera flash tilted up and with a diffusion white plastic box. I shoot the flash in manual and decrease output to avoid burning highlights.
Ii also stick front lense element to the glass so that reflection doesn't show in shots
