well i got sick of wating for the lookdown tank i want but cant afford right now, so untill i get the funds to have my tank built i settled for this..
it is a 2' by 4' hydroponic tub and i think its about 7" deep, i will have to double check how deep it is though. i built a woden box around the tub to make it look nice as it is in my living room.
i am lighting it with a lumenbright black 250 w single end fixture and currently i had a spare 20k coralvue bulb laying around.
the return pump will be a mag 9.5 , and the drain is a single 1.5" bulk head. brought down to a 1" return line
i have a crappy excalibur skimmer on it for now (had it laying around) when i get the tank i want i will upgrade the skimmer.
i built a light holder out of 3/4 conduit and nothing is fully set up yet.
i am wsing a 55 gallon as a sump on the floor directly behind the tank
the tank i want will be a rimlees miracles aquarium 4-1/2 or 5 feet long by either 2-1/2 or 3 feet wide, and i am thinking about going wirh strrphire on the fron viewing side.
i would like some input on overflow options for the tank i plan on ordering, so any input on that would be great. please leave comments and feed back
and remember this is only temporary for now

all frags i put in this tub will be mounted on my own home made frag plugs and disks, and i hope i am able to eventually cover the cost of this system with frags from my display.
currently i have a bunch of stometella snails and certh snails, as well as a pair (i hope) of bangaii cardinals
fell free to give me any input or feedback you may have
and thanks for looking

looking great. i love all the frag tanks popping up all over the place. more tanks mean more coral and better prices. keep it up

Halide lights and hydroponics tubs... Might be someone knocking on your door in the future. LOL Just Kidding, nice looking frag tank!! I bet that was a heck of a lot cheaper than glass or acrylic too!

I think it looks awesome! I wouldn't change it out it looks so good IMO. Save the money for corals or other equipment!! Very good looking and very clever!
