I hate how cluttered and dirty my sandbed looks in that video. I just snap this picture. Not totally cleaned up, but much better.

I try to create little "rock islands" to get my coral that is on my sandbed up and out of the way. I show two pics of the same piece(center located) that I created this past weekend - pic quality is so - so? I had the base piece, did a few mods to it, cut the other "smaller upper rock pieces" and cemented them together.

I like those little rock islands, especially in a smaller to medium sized tank. I'd prefer a clean sandbed with zero to minimal corals, but I'm a coral addict and can't stop collecting so sandbed becomes precious real estate.

Nice.. I started doing something similar to this I can appreciate that your giving your corals space to grow and not cramming them on one rock. I recently started using eggcrate as base (I'd prefer some acrylic) and expoxied 4" pieces of rubble and glued the pieces to the rubble. Its really cool to see the fish having new places to swim around instead of one giant mass of rock. I have 9 islands now (5 large and 4 small) but they all blend in seamlessly and I have a toadstool and monti cap on their own island as I know these can become a pest so having the ability to remove them is always good. I'll have to take some pictures.
