My Triton Lab Results

I'm pretty sure my man made rocks are still leaching causing my alkalinty to steadily go up. I thought that it finally stabilized but I guess I was wrong. I'm kinda just curious if anyone else had this problem?

Some people see the effect in pH more than alkalinity, but that may be if they have higher demand for alkalinity than you do.

It is a known concern, but most folks using artificial rocks cure and wash then pretty extensively.

Unfortunately I assumed the rocks were fully cured before they were shipped to me but obviously that wasn't true. I just figured that they shouldn't be leaching since they've been in my tank since June.

Alkalinty still going up :(

I tested it on January 30, 2016 after I brought the alkalinty down to 8.84 by using muriatic acid in my new batch of salt water.

Tested again tonight 2/15/16 and
Alkalinty is at 10.13 dkh.

Anyone else have a problem like this where Alkalinty goes up? Maybe someone who bought rocks from the same vendor as me?

My tank is still fallow because the tank didn't cycle properly in my opinion due to lack of porosity so after I added my fish that were 4 years old they all died. I waited close to 2 months before adding fish.

This tank is supposed to be a high end sps tank but I haven't added sps yet because I've lost all 6 sps frags that I put in so far.

I've been adding a small amount of pellets about 5 days a week since the tank was first filled with water. I also used seachem stability when I first started the tank and followed the directions on the bottle. I know you don't really like Marinepure ceramic media but I ordered a block of it yesterday. My tank is barebottom with minimal aquascape. I'm quarantining a regal angel right now for my first fish so I don't want to take any chances with not having enough bacteria this time around. I do have a lot of blue leg hermits and some snails as well. I want to start adding sps but with my Alkalinty going up almost 2 dkh per month I don't see how I can maintain a stable system.

SPS corals will consume a lot more than 2 dKh per month, so I wouldn't worry much about that aspect of it.
