Hi,
I have 2 MP40's on my tank running in sync. I noticed today that the QD unit was very warm to the touch so I used my laser temp tool and it read 120 degrees F. It was running in Pulse mode at the time. I also took the temp of the other unit on the opposite side of the tank (older model) it was 89. I thought this was too hot for my liking and have turned them off for now. Should it be running this warm? I also took a video of the lights as I notice that it now shows several lights on steady while the pulse lights runs normal. The other MP40 does not have any lights on steady just the pulsing. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would contact ecotech marine. They have amazing customer service even if your product is out of warranty. They will either repair or replace it.

If you have it on Pulse mode they all run warm.
I have six of them and all the same, Ecotech says it's normal due to the new QD outer body is to transfer heat out.
If you have a APEX you can set them for different modes during the day and other modes like the lagoon the motor wouldn't run to hot.
Just set them for every hour on a different schedule, your corals will thank you for it as well.

They will run warm on pulse mode. Just how they're... kinda weird of you ask me.

All pumps run hot on pulse mode, only thing is all other pumps transfer the heat into your tank when in pulse mode.
The Vortechs keeping the heat out of your water.
