For the last 3 days my colony of blastos have been shriveled up.
I do weekly water changes, checked the tank for anything that might have been thrown in (kids), check my levels, and cleaned my pumps. The only thing I can think of is that I changed one of my bulbs out of 8 to ATI ABS..... Do you think this can cause my blasto to shrivel up and start loosing its tissues?

Last night I dipped them in lugols and placed them in a shadowy area with less water flow...
Advice needed please.

Thanks!

Pictures may help. How long have you had them? Not sure if one bulb change out of 8 would do what you are describing. Blastos are known the react drastically to change in water chemistry. What are your perimeters. Are you dosing anything?

I've always heard they like the water a little dirty. I had been doing weekly water changes. When I stopped they really puffed up nice and full.

Stopped how long ago. You ended the sentence sounds like you just stopped all together.

sorry, I do water changes about once a month. 50g tank and I do 5g changes.

Bit if a stretch but ok as long as you are keeping an eye on your perimeters. Those will more than likely tell water quality issues.

Thanks for the reply.
All my parameters are in check.
Is there anything else you may think?

Please post pictures.. I have had the same thing happen to mine and was dumbfounded and still am. They are in a shady spot hanging on for dear life. I want to know what caused it and if they will come back. Was one of my first piece of corals and has survived three years through thick and thin... Following along

You should post picture and perimeters. It could be a perimeter number you are not seeing or is out of sync with other numbers. Water perimeters is a balance. Your WC is considered on the low side. There may be something you are overlooking in water chemistry. Blasto do not respond well to change in ph or alk.
