My LFS finally got my wife her fish. A Baby Tusk. He is only about 1.5"-2" but he is active and eating.

Yeah I'm in a little bit of a panic right now. I'm afraid to let him go in the tank cause I think the lion may go after him. Going to pick up a small tank just for him tomorrow and use water from my 90 for it.

How big is the lion? Yes, I would guess it will go after it, no matter what the size as they move constantly and jerkingly.... so tantalizing for the lion.

I had to put mine in a grow out tank.

Unfortunately tusk don't grow very quickly --- but as juveniles they'll grow relatively fast with good nutrition and water parameters. Just feed it a lot!

If the lion can fit it in its mouth, consider this fish gone. The size you think a fish has to be to be safe from your lion - add 33%!

The lion is close to 3-4. I'm in the process of planing a predator soft tank that he will be in but want him to stay alive till then and not get eatin.

Here's mine when he was first put in his grow out tank. That's a 24g JBJ, for size reference. He doesn't really come out until :17. My dwarf could have eaten this.

That's the cutest little fishy that I've seen in quite awhile! I had to look up what the heck was a tusk and I'm enthralled. But no...I have 3 fish in my 29g and the 55g is going to have some aggro fish. *sigh* No more tanks. *she says to herself, totally lacking conviction*
