Ok, so my brother drove up from FL on xmas eve and he brought me some corals. Among them was some sort of sps, the only thing is I don't have any sps and am not sure I can keep it alive. As it was a gift from my brother I's like to try. Can anyone tell me what it is and what it might need to keep it alive. Right now I have about 200w of t5 lighting on a 55gal. I still have to test my water which I'll try and do today. I have mostly lps and softies that have been very happy and growing pretty good. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

you should be fine with lights, so if the water is good and the flow is adequete it should do good. Might be a staghorn or a tortosa? i dunno...is that a nosy-be in the avatar, he's awesome.

My water has been good enough for everything in there so far, although I have been wanting to try some sps and just picked up a bunch of test kits to figure out what I might need. Right now its in light to med flow, I tried to put it under more flow but all the polyp retracted, so i put it back where it was. What kind of flow do these guys usually like?

And yes, he's a nosy be. He's the house hold mascot.

they like a lot of alternating flow, they don't like to be just blasted. I'm sure it'll do fine...how does your Chameleon take to being handled, I almost got one a couple years back but was dissuaded when i found out they shouldn't be handled much at all. Is that true?

Cool, thanks everyone. I'll try to move a powerhead to try and give it a little more current. Hopefully it dose ok.

********, They can be tempermental and each one is different. I've heard of some people handling them, the best way to do it is to hand feed them often. That way they get used to you and don'y see you as a threat. you just cant over do it. Ours will come to the front of the cage when he sees us so we can give water or food. If you want good info check out screameleons.com I've bought two from him and wont go anywhere else. They are awsome. I've had him for over a year and could still call them and ask questions and they are alway cool about it.
