I HAVE HAD THIS YELLOW JACKET FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW AND DONT THINK IT IS COLORING THE WAY THAT IT SHOULD. IT IS UNDER 175W 14K EVC SOMEWHAT SHADED. IT IS ABOUT 12-16" AWAY FROM LIGHT. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Since I do not have them this is an uneducated guess, but I think it needs more light. The frag behind it with the long stalks is usually a good indicator that more light is needed. IMHO

I agree looks like they are streching to get more light, could be why the YJ is not as bright as you want it

i have tried more light and didn't seem to change. everybodys opinion seems to be that these need some kind of shade

Are they really yellow when you see them in person? They look kinda green in the pics... Very nice polyp btw. They are near the top on my wanted list.

I have mines in high light also, but looks very different from yours. Mostly yellow center and very little black.

heres mine under 400s 14 ks

I should be getting mine hopefuly today, I hope I can get good color out of it.

I always thought ( not 100% sure) that to maintain the yellow color in zoas you need to put them in shde.

But from peoples experience that dosent seem to be the case.

It can take a couple months for them to really color up the way you want to even if they are in high light.....The best thing to do is frag some and put them indifferant spots in your tank and where they color up the way you want move all of them there in that spot....

alright... here's my observation on the few months I've had them... :)

the smaller polyps tend to be on the yellow side while the adult polyps are more on the Mountain Dew yellow/green coloration... they also seem to have less speckling when they're adults... I guess the best of both worlds is when they are sub adults... lots of yellow and lots of speckles... I've had a few different frags in different locations in my tank.. high light, med light, low light and the outcome is the same... here's a pic of one of my frags located more than halfway up the tank on a frag rack... btw, they are pretty decent growers... they respond with new polyps when fragged... hope this helps... :)

99% of the time I see pics of these I am not impressed at all with them. Marvins pic is an exception but still do not think they are worth the price tag. I would honestly think they were $10 polyps if I saw them and didn't know any better. I know alot of people say this sort of thing about all the high price zoos, but I don't. I have all the high end ones except for armaggedons and sopranos that I just cant get mt hands on but these are ones I will never get. I just don't see it. Just my 2 cents.

Marvin - Do you have the Green Armaggedons?
I just got some and they looked really similiar to your picture. I'm wondering if they are the same maybe?
