Nuts! He's been in about a month now, and has for the most part been a model citizen. Not tonight. Tonight he's dotting around, in and out of hiding, snatches a bit off the algae clip, hides, dots back across, hides. Little dude is healthy, eating and no spots. I believe he's just nuts.

Sporadic neurotic behavior is not usually a good sign. Especially if this is quick onset. I hope I am wrong, though.

Can you get a video of the spastic activity? Does it only occur in the evening? Are there any other fish?

Looking out the window by the tank, were there any storms of late? That could make the fish nerves with the flash of lighting, or the rumbles of thunder. Just a thought

Thanks for the replies yall. He seems to be fine this morning (I have a web cam) now that I'm thinking about it, his weird behavior was after I had had my hand in the tank moving coral frags and feeding, so hopefully that's all that it was.

My yellow tang did not do this when there were other tangs in the tank. I don't know if he's just stressed because he's the only tang now. There are a few chromis, a dottyback and a midas blenny. Used to have a hippo and vlamingi, but they got to big. Maybe he's just lonely... :(

Mine used to do this when he wanted to be fed, and wanted me to put my hand in the tank for him to rub up against :)
