At some point, I hope to have a large "cubish" tank, and I hope to create a whole under water temple type look. I actually have like 7 milk crates of tiles from 1" squares to 6" squares and everything in between. I don't use hardly any now, becuase again, my display is small and sucks at this point, lol. It's a devil are balance IMO, between open water, space used, and structure look and feel.

It's all about the Fung'shway, lol ;)

I have a fascinations with reef life (obviously), the idea of a lost city of Atlantis, and the ancient architecture of Ancient Rome, and other places like the Mayan temples. Trying to bring it all together one day with something really special. Just have to start small for now ;)

Now that!!!!! is thinking out of the box. What a piece of fine art that tank will be when it has had time to establish and grow out. Very unique and creative! Nicely done Stomp!

just to give you guys an idea, here are a couple shots of what ive acheived with some sps and what not in the past using just tiles. nothing special, but the tiles worked, everything grown from small frag. THIS IS NOT RELATED TO THIS THREAD, THIS IS AN OLD SYSTEM. JUST FOR REFERENCE.

i would post some of the older zoa system pics, but there are a TON, and i dont wana mix it all up and confuse it with this threads objectives and works.

Part of my REALLY wants to go back to bare bottom, but im just not sure at this point in time. My zoas did FANTASTIC, for the most part, when i ran bare bottom in the past. I currently find my diamond goby does disturb my polyps quite often now, but i wont have sand without one.

i dont know, i'm really back and forth on it.

If i was to elimate the sand, i would construct a foundation under the base tiles i have now, to give it an elevated "stair" like look... I still may, i dont know right now though...

GSP to simulate grass on the bottom of the tank would look insane

i like that idea! i was thinking, if i stay with the standpipes, or even with the overflow of the new tank im getting (just confirmed its mine today when breakdown of current owner happens), that xenia covering either of those would look pretty cool too ;)

Very sweet!!! I remember someone doing this before. Very innovative to say the least. :)

Thank you!

And if you could find a link or something, I would love to know more. To the best of my knowledge, I the only person whom takes this approach to aquascape, but I could certainly be wrong ;)

It was on reefcentral, and a pretty old thread. Wish I could find it again without scrolling back too much. Either way, this tank looks like fun! I'm a bit curious as to how the zoas will grow as they encrust downward. Will they have to stretch more for light since the ones above them might shade them out?
