My Zoanthids

Here are some of the zoanthid sections in my 180. Nothing rare, but I think it looks pretty nice.

Thanks! All but the last one in each set of pics started as less than 20 polyps too. I bought the last one in each post as a colony, but they seem to be growing well too.

Okay, so these are horrible partial tank shots, but the best I have for now.

This is the left side of the tank, but only the actinic VHOs and the middle 14K halide are on, no flash.

Couldn't get a picture even close enough to being clear of the right side to post. Gonna try again soon.

Trust me, I have seen much nicer tanks (mine looks more like a science experiment than a display tank!). It does look pretty good, but I am thinking of redoing the rock work in a more open manner. It kind of looks like a pile of rocks in a quarry right now, just more colorful.

I went to 14K XMs which really gives it a deeper water look, which makes the zoas colors really stand out, but they don't grow as fast as under 10Ks, and my blue ricordea really dulled in color under the 14Ks. They actually looked a deeper blue under 10Ks, which doesn't make sense.

Ben, I have to have you come over and take some pictures since I stink at it!

I just got 2 big colonies of Aussie palys, at least that is what they were advertised as...gotta get them acclimated and get some pictures, they are really sharp.

Ok, here goes with FTS, sort of.

Left Side, No Flash, 14K MH and Actinics.

Full Tank from right, no flash. And yes, I am fighting a small cyano war (only on the bottom right side of the tank, which is weird). I think I need to move a power head to the bottom half of the tank on the right (not to mention quit feeding the tangs so much flake food).

Please note that one of the large zoanthid colonies in the first pictures has been moved to my 72, and the red/orange monti cap put in it's place.

Radreef, is your avatar a Hells Angel paly? I just got a similar looking colony of about 15 polyps, maybe a month ago, they are in the bottom 3rd of the tank (250W MH, 14K XM..not so great PAR), with moderate flow, but have not sprouted any new buds yet. Any suggestions on placement?
