I am currently cycling my new tank and just made it through the diatom bloom stage when I noticed this growing on the live rock. Not quite sure what it could be. Does any one have any ideas on whether or not I should be concerned about this.

Can't see very well from the picture. Do you have CUC in your tank? If so It could be snail eggs (I have them on my live rock) or it could be a form of sponge. If it is either of those 2, then they are ok and won't harm anything.

I apologize I am still new to this but what is a CUC?

I have a few snails that do like to hang out in that rock so my hunch is that it's snail eggs. It's a little more solid and bumpy looking than sponge growth.

It stands for clean up crew. Meaning the snails crabs and others critters that keep the tank clean
